For now, Darth Maul has won. I wish it were simply a movie script for another Star Wars film, but it’s real and it’s happening here in the US and around the world. We can’t wish it away. The evil overlords are here and fighting to destroy all that is good and just. Now we get go be our own heroes.
I’m not here to talk about how it happened. Many historians have been analyzing and warning us for years. You can do some Google research to find out the history of the conservative movement. The big question is what happens next? I want to share the words of Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg . They will give you hope and a game plan. She reminds us that ‘fight back’ never means violence. Historically, non-violent resistance has a ten times more chance of success.
Take time to be angry or grieve, update your important paperwork and passports, then search for a myriad of resistance groups and get involved. Here are some suggestions:
Your local Democratic Party office: Google by county
Turnout Pac (they do post cards to swing states, mid-terms will need our help)
Field Team 6 (project to register Democratic voters)

I’m an old hippy who cut my teeth on war protests and working for women’s equality. Protesting is not how I planned to spend my golden years. But I’m ready and willing to persist for my granddaughter and all the other young women (& men) to come after me.
